The IRONWARE line is hand forged in Normandy, France, and hand finished in Nashville, TN. Our sculptural designs include lighting, furniture, and other artisanal accessories for the home or office. Custom work is our specialty. In 1988 Karin Eaton brought the original creations of Pierre Picard and Atelier Picard-Duboscq to America. We celebrate a transatlantic partnership that has flourished for over 30 years.
Pierre Picard and Atelier Picard-Duboscq, Normandy, France
In 2013, the designation of “Atelier d’Art” was bestowed by the French government making this forge one of only 12 in France to be approved to work on historic monuments. The last 600 years have revealed a European tradition of excellence and artistry evident in the craft of Maître Artisan Pierre Picard. Founded over 50 years ago by Master Blacksmith Pierre Picard, Atelier Picard-Duboscq remains today the setting for the craftsmanship of three generations in this family of blacksmiths. Monsieur Picard was apprenticed to a Romanian blacksmith at the tender age of 14. He sacrificed his formal education to acquire this very rare skill.
Following ancient tradition, Pierre passed his knowledge to the next generation, his son-in-law, Thierry DuBoscq. Today David Duboscq, the son of Thierry DuBoscq, is the 3rd generation to continue the esteemed traditions begun when his grandfather Pierre Picard founded the Atelier Picard in 1966.
